Supporting the environment has been part of Lions International policy since October 1972 when it was stated that "Lions Clubs International' recognised the profound impact of man's activity on the inter-relations of all componments of the natural environment".

Clubs take their own decisions on the method of meeting this objective and we have carried out a number of activities over the years in our efforts to support this policy here in Newport Pagnell & Olney.   In addition to a number of tree planting projects we have introduced a number of recycling projects in our contribution to protecting the environment locally and in the wider sense via our International obligations to Lions Clubs International.

You can take your old spectacles to  a number of outlets which are acting as collection points for us.
We make a frequent call to recover the items and will then pass them onto the club which is dealing with these on a UK wide basis before being sent overseas and reused.

  Empty Foil Pill Packs
Please Note: This activity has been suspended.  For further information click here.

If you are on repeat medication,  you no doubt regularly dispose of the empty containers with the household rubbish heading to landfill.
These do have a value but have to be collected in such bulk, that it is clearly not feasible for a householder to organise this by themselves (unless they have a spare room they want to fill, that is)..
Equally we would have considerable bother retaining the volumes which the recycling company require before collection so we have linked up with Superdrug and will be using our regular trips into Milton Keynes to .drop off the packs we have collected.

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANY TABLETS IN THE PACKS YOU WANT US TO RECYCLE

Blister packs can be dropped into our collection boxes at:
